I hope to let you know what movies I enjoy and why--- without rating them. . .where did that get started anyway?

2. I will most certainly overuse words as in :
Like --love it -- wonderful -- so this will not be a grammar perfect blog--Yeah!

3. Sometimes I will discuss TV shows and stage productions . . . just depends on where the spirit leads me. Maybe throw in a song I am enjoying here and there-- we will see.

4. Who rates movies anyway ?? And decides if we like what we see -- so -- on Coco Flicks I will write about characters---- scenes ---- actors excelling at their craft to ME! the aim here is to enjoy and be lifted out of your everyday life . . . Not award shows or ratings. . . rating is not the goal of Coco's Flicks. So if you are super picky -- oops! you might think this is a bit sappy -- that's cool.

5. Awards -- I love to Oscar "watch" --in fact I am trying to view as many nominated films as possible before the end of Feb. HOWEVER -- I maintain in my heart that I ,Coco, am the the ultimate decider --for me-- about a performance in a film. Sometimes I wish a nomination was the the "win"----- it's so subjective .

6. The only important criteria is . . . if I enjoy the movie and it speaks to Me. . . Coco.CoCohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00095052031697755619noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8491917346465247439.post-31055134619190294112007-02-10T05:07:00.000-08:002007-02-09T20:37:57.645-08:00Vintage Classic Love Movies for Valentine MonthSince is February --- the "love "month" -- I guess someone decided to bring out on DVD some old classics.

I saw one today being advertised --- A Summer Place--with Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue (Loved that movie! I have seen it so many times.
Love the theme song . . . A Summer Place. . . "bells will be ringing . . ."
Years ago I even learned to play it on the piano.

Speaking of "old" love classics:
What about Splendor in the Grass ???? Maybe one of my all time favorites! Truly.
Sweet, sad and bittersweet --
It stars Natalie Wood and Warren Beatty
Get out the Kleenex --Boo Hoo-- Boo Hoo !!
To quote:
Tho' nothing can bring back the hour. . ."
See the movie and you will be looking up poetry. I promise.

And another love classic "go to" for me is Roman Holiday --with, yes, once again starring that cutie---Troy Donahue--- and Suzanne Pleschette (I must have really liked Troy)
Again -- loved the music and the story --so romantic.

-----------------CoCohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00095052031697755619noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8491917346465247439.post-7036610878381360302007-02-09T20:26:00.000-08:002007-02-09T20:34:03.709-08:00Catch and ReleaseI was not sure I wanted to see this movie -- having just had a loss in our family -- however -- once again a movie took me out of myself and gave me pause to think. . .

Again -- enjoyed the actors --- new guy with Jennifer Garner -- liked him and always like her.

Being a somewhat casual person -- I liked the down to earth Colorado clothes -- the simple /outdoorsy approach

Lots of good meaning . . .the painting of the room ---- to name one scene
Don't know why -- Juliette Lewis is just cool to me -- she has air about her -- makes me grin.

Enjoyed the flick.CoCohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00095052031697755619noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8491917346465247439.post-30124768286735729362007-02-09T20:20:00.000-08:002007-02-09T20:33:44.562-08:00Because I Said SoOnce again Diane Keaton is fabulous, I think. She is quirky -- and just who she is -- the clothes she wears! Love it.
I like that she wears something about her neck -- Go Diane!
Mandy Moore is also very good.
Love when the women sing ---

Again a meaning to the movie -- lots of them -- here is one: RED FLAG on some relationships (broken dish scenes) --- if you have seen it you know what I am talking about -- if you have yet to see it --- I will worry if you miss the red flags.
And. . . if you are a mom or grew up with a mom . . . the words : Because I Said So. . . are sad but true.

Cute movie.CoCohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00095052031697755619noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8491917346465247439.post-63411045303700356852007-02-09T20:13:00.000-08:002007-02-09T20:32:20.263-08:00QueenFirst -- Queen --- Enjoyed it -- liked the history type approach.

Helen Mirren is wonderful -- I never even thought she was acting --she was The Queen. The Tony Blair character was also wonderful. the movie was a nice departure form a "typical movie. " One of the themes of the movie ---to me -- folks in leadership can be so isolated and caught up in their own views we fail to see what might really be happening. A cautionary tale to us all, really.

As I write this I do so with an English accent in my head.
Cheerio !CoCohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00095052031697755619noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8491917346465247439.post-57658612570707274162007-02-09T13:53:00.000-08:002007-02-09T20:11:52.450-08:00Pilot Post

Welcome!
Come right on in to Coco Flicks.

I don’t know about you ---as for me--- I love movies. Movies take me “away” – entertain me – challenge me – inspire me. I remember being when I was about 8 or 9 and my mom and dad taking me to see Shenandoah –at the big screen (Our only choice back then) and just being mesmerized . The movie theater was jam packed – not a seat left --- and I can recall thinking – this is great – I love being with all these people seeing this great movie. I still remember lines from Jimmy Stewart –as I grew older I would find “like minded” friends that could quote lines with me “Pass the butter peas “or say “Martha" like Mr. Stewart did – I discovered an unspoken connection with folks ---we saw the same movie and we both took in the same thoughts – we were moved or somehow effected by what we experienced. Love it when that happens ! The family dinner and prayer scene in Shenandoah still is etched in my memory.

So . . . any hoo this Coco Flicks is about what I like! No ratings.
For me . . . some movies are award winning in the “real" world and that is fine. However, I have my own system and like what I
like . . . just because.
If you are the same type person – who just wants to decide for yourself what you like ----“Yes, I liked that movie “or “ya know, that might be a rental” ----You are my kinda person.
Some movies are just “feel good “ movies –friends like to go and simply “be “ together and enjoy generally--- No shooting – no violence all the typically guy stuff.
Other movies are tear jerkers – I like those , too --- why? Gets my emotions out – I emote with the characters and they usually get imprinted in my soul—and that’s art for me. Like “Steel Magnolias” – “Beaches”---

Hope you enjoy CoCo Flicks.

CoCohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00095052031697755619noreply@blogger.com0
